They have done it again!
On Saturday last, the Laval University football team capped off a perfect season by winning the Vanier Cup, Canada’s collegiate national championship. They beat the Mustangs of the University of Western Ontario, 34-20, in an impressive offensive display orchestrated by senior quarterback Hugo Richard. The Rouge et Or victory was achieved before a hometown audience of over 12,000 people at TELUS-Université Laval Stadium in Québec City. Saturday’s championship win was the tenth in the program’s history and it set a record in Canadian university football; no team has won more Vanier Cups.
Laval University’s 10 national championships are all the more impressive when you consider the fact that the university has only had a men’s football team since the 1996 season. In other words, in winning 10 Vanier Cups, the Rouge et Or have won nearly half the championships for which they have been eligible. The Laval University football team is a true powerhouse!
Allez, Rouge et Or!

Do they play Canadian rules with only three downs or American with four downs?
Canadian football, Canadian rules!
Congratulations to the Rouge et Or!
Very impressed as my SDSU is struggling. Looking forward to returning to visit my family roots sometime soon.
A great game ang a big win!
Congratulations to R-O.
Merci Neil,
Very impressive achievement since 1996. I’m not a football fan but the R.O is Quebec football team, it means a lot. Thank you Neil for this update. Neil are you a football fan? Are you coming to the 5-7 on december 6. It will be nice to see you.
Hi Neil,
I’m certainly impressed by the R&O Football Team, but when are we going to recover our NHL team, the famous Nordiques ???
Le plus grand secret caché de Québec est d’assister au Tail gate d’avant match du Rouge et Or pour voir ce qu’est une vrai fête typiquement Québéçoise avec leur personnalité unique au monde.
As a former student of Laval University (graduated from agricultural engineering program in 1983!), I am and I have always been so proud of our team!
Bravo Rouge et Or!
